Cancer in Children
Yes, children do get cancer. It's terrible, but it is a fact.
40 years ago, leukemia or brain cancer in a child was basically a
death sentence. Times have changed. 79% of leukemia patients
and 73% of brain tumor patients now live 5 or more years past their
diagnosis. But, they are always worried that it will come back.
Osteoporosis is another concern. Kids need to eat plenty of
foods with calcium such as broccoli, milk and ice cream.
Cancer therapies can affect children's memory and their ability to
concentrate and learn, so they may need extra help to do well in school. |
